Press Release: Long Beach Public Library Foundation Welcomes New Board Members Bette Ann Baker and John M. Edmond

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation is excited to announce the appointment of Bette Ann Baker and John M. Edmond to its Board of Directors. Both individuals bring a broad range of professional experience and a deep commitment to community service that will further the Foundation's mission to enhance literacy and education in Long Beach.

Bette Ann Baker, JD, MSN

Bette Ann Baker is a nurse and attorney with a distinguished career spanning health care, education, and law. Originally from New England, she holds degrees from Simmons University and the University of Rochester. Her extensive nursing background includes serving as a head nurse in Louisville and a consultant for the World Health Organization (WHO) in Guatemala.

After earning her law degree from the University of Texas, Bette Ann practiced law for 35 years, specializing in health care regulatory issues and civil litigation. She also served as a temporary judge in LA County for many years and was Chair of the Los Angeles County Bioethics Committee. Currently a resident of Long Beach, she is the mother of two grown children.

John M. Edmond

John M. Edmond is the Managing Partner and Founder of Edmond Group, bringing over 30 years of senior-level experience in both the public and private sectors. His expertise encompasses political campaigns, public affairs, regulatory affairs, and policy development. Throughout his career, John has represented corporations, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations before federal, state, and local governments.

Prior to founding Edmond Group, John served as Senior Vice President at Mercury Public Affairs. He also possesses a strong background in financial services, having managed assets for ultra-high-net-worth clients at a Fortune 500 bank. His strategic insight into the intersection of business, policy, and community interests will be a significant asset to the Foundation’s leadership.
