Donor Privacy & Bill of Rights

PRIVACY STATEMENT AND DISCLOSURE

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation is grateful for the support it receives from its donors. One of the ways we express our thanks is by listing the names of donors in Web-based and/or print honor rolls. Should you wish that your name not appear as a donor, please notify us at info@LBPLFoundation.org or 562.628.2441.

Our Commitment to Our Donors
We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.

This policy applies to all information received by the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, both online and offline, on any Platform (“Platform”, includes the Long Beach Public Library Foundation website and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.

To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

Information collection, use & sharing:

We are the sole owners of the information provided to us by our donors. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email, mail, or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email or mail in the future about organization-specific events and updates.

Your access to and control over information:

You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number given on our website:

  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the webpage.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information which are kept in a secure environment.

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation subscribes to the Donor Bill of Rights, which was created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits.
