Kristen Hernandez, Director of Communications and Public Affairs

Kristen brings over a decade of experience in nonprofit and advocacy communications to her role as Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Long Beach Public Library Foundation. Born and raised near Pasadena, she earned her undergraduate degree in public policy from USC, where she also worked at the university library, and a master's degree in public relations from Georgetown University. Kristen started her career in Washington D.C. working for public affairs firms and political organizations, then worked remotely from the Bay Area before returning to Southern California in early 2025. With a lifelong love for libraries stemming from cherished childhood memories, Kristen is thrilled to contribute her passion to supporting the Foundation's vital work.
