The
Long Beach Public Library foundation is
proud to announce a brand new fun element to
this year's program... the Geocache
Treasure Hunt!
What Is Geocaching?
Using GPS coordinates and navigation, you are invited along on a Zorro-themed
scavenger hunt throughout the City to find hidden "caches." Be the "first
to find" for special bragging rights, and discover book-themed clues and
locations throughout Long Beach. Watch the video below for the full
explanation. (You will need a GPS navigation device or a special "app" for your
smart phone.)
How Do I Begin? Ready to
add another layer of enjoyment to your reading of Zorro by participating in the
new 'in' sport of Geocaching? Great! Here are a few general tips to get you
started. You don't have to wait for the "official" Zorro themed caches, watch
the video on how you can select a cache near you and start practicing so you are ready
for March!
So Where Are They?
During the month of March, we will have numerous Zorro-related geocaches hidden
throughout the city. Using your GPS as your guide, it will be up to you to
figure out the clues and find the treasures!
Zorro Geocaching
Super Challenge: (1) Find Zorro Geocaches #1-6. (2) Sign
the log in the geocache - and also online once you get home. (3) Pick up a
piece of "treasure" from each one. (4) Send an email to
zorro.challenge@gmail.com. In it, list the six pieces of treasure, and
include your first and last name. You MUST include all six items. One entry per
person. All valid entries will be entered in a random drawing for a super
fabulous Zorro prize!!!
Still completely lost? Call our special Zorro Geocache Hotline and leave a message with your
question, and one of our volunteer Geocache experts will get back to you!
